Mission and Policies
The Board of Advisers shall be a body of appointed members who will jointly oversee the activities of the Gun Club and ensure that these activities function together for the good of the club and its members. The Board’s main role shall be advisory in nature to maintain a professional environment, determine needed improvements and hold staff and members alike accountable for their actions as it pertains to the overall Gun Club.
The Board of Advisers shall be established with five members for each term. The advisers on the board must have been members of the Gun Club for at least one year before joining the board. It is preferred that the board include at least one married couple for the perspective of the families that are members and at least two women to advise on women’s issues and assist the staff with programs designed for the female shooters. The term of service as a Board Adviser shall be one calendar year.
The Board Advisers shall meet with the staff quarterly to discuss plans, issues, and suggestions for improvement. They shall receive quarterly reports regarding the amount of the maintenance fees collected from members in a quarter and what projects and uses the fees went towards. After each meeting, the Board Advisers shall prepare a short but informative report for all other members and present that information at the Quarterly Member Meetings. The Board Advisers shall be assigned a specific email for all members to send correspondence to for suggestions and grievances. Upon receiving a suggestion or grievance, the Board Advisers shall make every effort to respond to that member in a timely manner, if only to acknowledge receipt of emails. If a member cannot hold the position of the Board Adviser or needs to leave the board, another member shall be nominated and voted into the position at the next Quarterly Member Meeting. If an Adviser cannot attend a board meeting, that Adviser shall be allowed to give proxy in his/her absence.
The Board of Advisers shall not, in any way, be paid or compensated for their advisement.
